Mandarin is a beautiful community in the southernmost part of Jacksonville, FL. Mandarin was named for it’s many acres of orange groves that once grew here and it was once a very important port along the St. John’s River for shipping oranges. As you drive down Mandarin Road (which goes along the St. John’s river) you’ll be delighted by the ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss hovering over the road as well as the historic homes. This community truly has the charm of a proper old southern community. But don’t be fooled! Mandarin has all the conveniences of the modern world as well.
These days, Mandarin is a nice combination of residential areas, shopping and great restaurants. Mandarin has plenty of choices to keep the foodie in anyone happy and some great local shopping. One of the best things about living in Mandarin is how centrally located and convenient the area is. Homes in Mandarin are sought after for their larger lots with mature trees and traditional but often unique style homes as well as the location being so easy to get anywhere in Jacksonville relatively quickly. One thing I don’t see mentioned very often but should be is the sense of community here. Residents of Mandarin love their community and it shows.
